| School-based Apprenticeships / Traineeships (SATs) | School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs) Explained - SATs are usually taken up by secondary school students who are enrolled in years 10, 11 or 12. A SAT student one who is engaged in a Traineeship or Apprenticeship Contract while still attending school and working towards completing a Senior Certificate. Under a SAT arrangement, employers are required to pay students for the time they spend in productive work. There are many different models of SATs and this concept is designed to be a flexible as is required by the employer and the student. Typically a student might work in a workplace for one or two days per week (minimum or 48 days in a calendar year) and participate in schooling and accredited training for the remaining time in the week. WorkWize has signed Memorandums of Understanding with 10 Secondary Schools in the Rockhampton Mount Morgan and Yeppoon regions so that together we can identify and facilitate SAT opportunities for students who have a keen interest in a pursuing a trade based career pathway. |
| Vocational Education Project Management | WorkWize is a schools industry links program and the primary focus of the organisation is 'school to work transitions' and provision of a proactive approach to youth unemployment. Through work readying, life skills and on-the-job training WorkWize provides potential employers with a pool of young people who are motivated and keen to participate in meaningful work and community activities. WorkWize provides a one-stop-shop for all Vocational Education and Training across secondary schools, Vocational Training and Tertiary Education in the provision of quality advices, up to the minutes information and training. WorkWize builds mutually beneficial partnerships between schools and industry which will ultimately lead to benefits for the wider community. |
